Also available: Industrial Engineering and International Finance (part time) MSc
Studying in our School of Science and Engineering and our School of Business, you will develop skills, knowledge and understanding of specialised industry focused engineering and fundamental international finance subjects.
On the engineering side you will study a number of subjects, including advanced robotics, where you will look at multi-modal sensor integration and human-robot interactions, and advanced manufacturing, where you will investigate modern and smart manufacturing technologies.
On the international finance side you will study a number of subjects, including corporate finance, global risk analysis, and forecasting. You will combine your engineering knowledge and ideas with economic strategy, to analyse asset pricing and capital budgeting, interact with global markets and make informed business decisions.
Under the guidance of our academic staff, you will undertake an industrial related project for at least 12 weeks, gaining practical experience and valuable contacts in the industry. Recent project examples have looked at the enhancement of the cylinder block cleaning process and the implementation of self-supporting hose projects.
We also have a number of research and teaching collaborations around the world, including a partnership with CERN (large hadron collider) in Geneva, Switzerland, creating opportunities for industrial placements, PhDs and graduate positions.
You should have, or expect to have, a first degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics or equivalent. You are expected to have achieved a 2:2 honours degree, or an equivalent standard. Relevant work experience is also considered, when a 2:2 degree is not achieved.
