Globally the demand for animal products is expected to increase by 85% by 2050 and this increase in demand can only be satisfied by increases in production efficiency and sustainable intensification of ruminant production systems. This is where our postgraduate degree in Ruminant Nutrition comes in.

This course

Study this course and you will learn to:

• Assess the size and structure of different sectors of the ruminant livestock production industry and the market for ruminant products

• Critically evaluate the major internal and external factors affecting the demand and supply of ruminant products
• Explain how the structure of the main chemical components in feeds relates to their form and function in both plants and animals, and nutrient supply
• Analyse animal feeds to determine their chemical composition, and interpret forage and feed analysis reports
• Evaluate ruminant feeds to determine the nature of energy and protein supply
