Course Description

If you have a degree and experience in the Health and Social Care sectors and you wish to become a qualified social worker then this is the course for you. The course, which starts in January, will provide you with an opportunity to both study and work in Children and Families as well as Adult Social Work giving you the freedom to plan and take forward your career the way you want to.

We work closely with employers in the statutory and independent social care sectors to ensure that the course and placements provided reflect the latest developments in practice in terms of legislation, policy and multi-agency working.

Entry Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree (minimum 2.1) or other recognised equivalent qualification.
  • Applicants with a 2:2 will only be considered on an individual basis but it will be a requirement to demonstrate in the Personal Statement how your experiences (e.g. awards, scholarships, work experience - either paid or unpaid) and knowledge and skills will enable you to study and train to be a qualified social work practitioner.
  • A personal statement which provides evidence of experience of working within a care setting or organisation e.g. where you were involved in the delivery of services to people or groups who have social, health or educational needs or an NGO. This could be paid or voluntary work, with children or adults. Your experience should equate to at least 100 working days.
  • It is also a requirement that you provide a reference that evidences your social care related experience.
  • GCSE English and Maths grade 4 or above.

Programme Funding

You might be able to get a scholarship to help fund your studies. We award scholarships to those students who can demonstrate excellent achievement, passion and dedication to their studies.

Student Destinations

When you graduate you may be eligible to apply for registration with Social Work England and you will need to abide by a code of ethics and behaviour in relation to the profession.

On completion of the course you may choose to enter the profession by working in services for children or adults. Opportunities may also exist in social services departments, the private and independent sector, educational welfare, services such as guidance providing agencies, careers services and youth justice.
