The MA in Public History and Heritage is ideal if you are directly aiming for a career in that field. We offer a flexible programme designed to offer academic training and relevant employability skills.
You will have the chance to engage with external heritage organisations and gain practical, hands-on experience with staff projects in heritage and public history.
A range of stimulating and relevant modules are available to choose, covering topics from Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to contemporary local history.
In the second part of the course you have a choice of a 60-credit practice-based dissertation project, or a 60-credit written dissertation project.

Within the School of Culture and Communication is the Graduate Centre, designed to promote individual and collaborative research activity of international standard, and provide a supportive environment for those pursuing postgraduate research and taught masters study.
Our preferred offer is a 2:1 degree in History, Heritage Studies, Archaeology, Classics, Egyptology, Geography, Cultural Studies, Sociology or a 2:1 degree in other arts, humanities or social science subjects, or a science-based archaeology or conservation degree. We will also consider applications from candidates with significant professional or volunteering experience in the heritage/public history sector.
