The MA Professional and Commercial Dance gives students the edge to succeed as an artist in the demanding and ever-changing dance sector. This innovative and challenging MA programme offers you the opportunity to advance and refine your technical, creative and performance practices through the formation of a pioneering, exciting professional and commercial dance graduate company.
This exciting programme allows you to create and form a pioneering, original professional and commercial dance graduate company. Based at Shockout Arts, studying and training in purpose-built, high-specification dance and performing arts studios. The programme will be delivered by a combination of Shockout Arts professionals alongside industry specialists from various fields within the sector to ensure outstanding quality teaching driven by and reflecting industry standards and expectations.
Normally, you should have at least an upper second class (2.1) honours degree in a relevant subject to the creative discipline(s) you wish to study during this course (for instance, Dance). If you don’t have this qualification but do have alternative qualifications or significant experience in a relevant field, then we’ll be happy to consider your application.You’ll be required to attend an audition as part of the application process. The quality of the audition is the primary basis on which applicants, with at least the minimum entry requirements, are selected.We’ll consider applications where appropriate work experience can be demonstrated in lieu of, or in addition to, the published academic qualifications in line with the University’s Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) procedures.If English isn’t your first language, you’ll also need IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band (or equivalent). Applications from International and EU students cannot usually be accepted because the study location for this course is not licenced by UKVI to sponsor students.
