This PCET course is for people who are already working as teachers or trainers and want to achieve the sector qualification for teaching in post-16 settings.
Further education institutions need teachers with specialist subject knowledge who can teach people who want to explore subjects they weren’t offered in school. If you have a degree from a range of subjects including non-curriculum areas such as psychology, law or dance, you could be a teacher in post-16 education.
You will usually need to hold a 2:2 (or above) honours degree from a UK Higher Education institution or an equivalent qualification and be deemed suitable to train to teach by the School of Education at the University of Sunderland.
You should also hold a GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent qualifications) in Maths and English Language. If you have studied for a GCSE which has a numerical grade then you will need to achieve a grade 4 or above.

If you are invited for an interview, you will be asked to complete a pre-interview written task, participate in a group activity and complete a short in-house literacy assessment.
