Course Description

Our Apprenticeship in Outside Broadcasting offers a unique route into the exciting world of outside broadcasting, as the only provider to run an apprenticeship programme in conjunction with the outside broadcast industry.

Developed in partnership with leading television broadcasters, the BBC, SKY and ITV this course is delivered by top industry professionals during three residential weeks across the year. Apprentices are employed by leading UK outside broadcasting companies and paid £18k pa, whilst learning key craft skills including: Vision Engineering, Sound Engineering and Networks and Media Management.

For recent graduates in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or TV and Film Production, this offers the opportunity to step straight into a career as an outside broadcast engineer, with on-job training and employment from day one.

The Outside Broadcasting Apprenticeship is accredited by the media industry training body, Creative Skillset, and is approved by the UK Government as a Trailblazer Standard. All apprentices will undertake a postgraduate diploma with the University of Bradford, and can top up their apprenticeship to a full Masters degree.

Entry Requirements

A first degree (2:2 or higher) in a related area or a minimum of three years relevant experience, including one immediately preceding the programme

You are employed by an organisation that is part of the apprenticeship programme. If you work for an outside broadcaster they may be able to join the programme. For most people this will mean that they would put themselves forward to be selected by an employer who is participating in the apprenticeship programme.
