PG Dip Human Resource Management/Development (Advanced)

Course Description

When you successfully complete the Human Resource Management/Development course you will receive the Postgraduate Diploma and will have completed the skills and knowledge elements on the route to CIPD membership.

The CIPD will then require you to complete a behavioural assessment and demonstrate the required experience before upgrading to Chartered Membership status.

Entry Requirements

A UK University degree or equivalent combined with appropriate professional experience at CIPD Band 2 or 3.

Module Details

Year 1

Semester 1 (September to January – Tuesday 1pm-7:30pm)

There are two modules in the first semester:

  • Human Resource Management in Context
  • Managing, Leading & Developing People

Semester 2 (January to May – Tuesday 1pm-7:30pm)

There are two modules in the second semester:

  • Investigating a Business Issue
  • Developing Skills for Business Leaders.

Year 2

In Year 2 students need to undertake four option modules and these will determine whether you are awarded an HRM or HRD qualification. You need to do at least three options in either HRM or HRD. Further advice will be given on option choices by the Course Leader.

  • Managing Employee Relations
  • Employee Engagement
  • Performance Management
  • Reward Management
  • Talent & People Resourcing

HRD (pathway) Options:

  • Learning & Talent Development
  • Designing, Delivering and Evaluating Training
  • Instigating Coaching and Mentoring
  • Knowledge Management & Organisational Learning

HRM/D (pathway):

These modules are normally taught as standard

  • Organisational Design and Development
  • Leadership & Management Development

Semester 1 (September to January – Tuesday 1pm-7:30pm)

  • Organisational Design and Development (Regarded as an HRM & HRD option):
  • Option HRM/HRD

Semester 2 (January to May – Tuesday 1pm-7:30pm)

  • Leadership & Management Development (Regarded as an HRM & HRD option)
  • Option HRM/HRD
  • Students also need to produce a portfolio of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
