Our course will increase your knowledge of health and community care practice, give you finely tuned time management and prioritisation skills, and develop your understanding of the complex issues at the forefront of your own specialist area.
Our course incorporates a variety of modules that meet the needs of a wide range of health and community care environments. High emphasis is placed on self-directed and lifelong learning, and you will be given personal support to plan and organise an individualised programme of study. You will also have the opportunity to consider your own practice area in significant depth whilst further developing your critical analysis skills and honing your powers of reasoning.
Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree in the cognate subjects of Health Care, Nursing (Acute and Community), Health and Social Care, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics or Radiography, at least a second class honours degree in a non-cognate subject supported by evidence of an aptitude for the subject applied for, or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment. All students will normally be working, in paid or unpaid employment, within health and/or community care as students need to be able to reflect on their experience and relate theory with practice. All applicants should be able to evidence recent professional development/study; of working with different patient/client groups; awareness of current policies affecting the sector and potential implications for service delivery.
