Our Master’s degree in Primary Science Leadership is designed to enable practising science leaders and teachers – both specialist and non-specialist – in the primary sector to develop research-informed practice.

This degree is designed for anyone involved in the leadership of primary science. It will support you as you develop your ability to reflect critically on the leadership of the primary science curriculum and learning.
The focus throughout the degree is on developing your understanding of the curriculum and leadership as a reflective practitioner. You’ll also gain knowledge of research methodologies by conducting a small-scale enquiry a specific issue you have an interest in.
Your research should lead you to evidence-informed innovation that will further your understanding of yours and your school’s teaching practice.
You will normally be expected to possess a good honours degree (2:2 or above) from a UK university or an equivalent qualification approved by the University.

This Master’s programme supports your long-term career development. This is evident from the high proportion of MA Education graduates who achieve internal or external promotion to middle and senior leadership positions within Primary Science or an educational establishment within one year of completing the programme
Graduates of this programme are well placed to pursue doctoral studies on either a Professional Doctorate (Doctor of Education) or a PhD.
