Course Description

This course has been specifically developed for registered speech and language therapists, who wish to enhance and develop their current skills in the area of dysphagia.

The course aims to augment your critical understanding of the physiological, psychological, clinical management and social impact of dysphagia on the individual and the family/carer of the following patient groups: adult and adult with learning disabilities (ALD).

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be qualified and registered speech and language therapists and hold a 2:2 or above at degree level. You must be working in a clinical area which regularly manages patients who have dysphagia.

Prior to application you will be required to have identified a supervisor who must be a qualified speech and language specialist and be registered with a professional regulatory body. The supervisor must also regularly see patients with dysphagia as part of their ongoing work, be competent and experienced in dysphagia assessment and management, and be able to provide you with appropriate support and guidance.
