What is Data Science MSc?
Data science is a growing sector, with the potential to change the way we live in the future by solving or offering insights into many of the largest problems of today. On this dynamic course, you’ll learn the programming and maths skills to use these technologies to solve real-world problems relevant to your existing knowledge and expertise.
You’ll learn to create intelligent models which can predict future outcomes based on past data, generate artwork, or give you incredible insight into hard-to-find connections within your datasets. You’ll gain a deep understanding of data flows within organisations and systems, and how huge amounts of data can be engineered to produce knowledge.
The course is supported by the Office for Students. You can apply for a £10,000 scholarship to support your studies – intended to remove barriers for students from underrepresented demographics in data science (including black, female and disabled students).
More information can be found on the Office for Students website.
You’ll learn through practical work and assignments. Some more traditional teaching will take place too, but always with a practical focus and tasks intertwined. You’ll start out with the basics, before progressing towards the answers to questions you didn’t know you had.
As you learn you’ll be working with industry-standard software and hardware in our specialist labs – alongside students and subject specialists from both creative and technical computing backgrounds – giving you huge opportunities to build networks with the sector-leaders of the future.
