Course Description

Our MA Classics and Ancient History is one of the widest-ranging courses in the UK, with expertise spanning Bronze Age to late antiquity, Anatolia to Egypt and the Near East.

You will be taught by world-leading experts, with particular research strength in a wide range of disciplines including ancient history, literature, language, archaeology, art and culture.

Our Department is ranked 6th in the UK for research overall, 3rd in the UK for research output (Times Higher Education Institutions Ranked by Subject, 2014, based on its analysis of REF 2014 – Classics), and 100% of our research impact has been recognised as world leading or internationally excellent (Research Excellence Framework, 2014 – Classics).

Entry Requirements

Normally a good undergraduate honours degree (2:1 or above), or equivalent from a university outside the UK, in a relevant humanities subject.
