MA PGDip PGCert Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching by Web-Based Distance Learning

Course Description

This course offers a broad study of language and linguistics, helping you to apply and develop theoretical models and frameworks in language study. Many students on this course are already working as English teachers, either in the UK or abroad.

We will explore areas including:

  • Syllabus design and methodology
  • Vocabulary teaching and learning
  • Intercultural communication
  • Discourse analysis
  • Research methods in applied linguistics

You will study English language teaching from multiple perspectives, including second language acquisition, motivation and individual learner differences, psycholinguistics, discourse analysis, and corpus linguistics.

Entry Requirements

Typically 2:1 or above, but we will consider 2:2 (or international equivalent), in English Language or Literature or a related Arts or Humanities subject, plus two years of approved teaching experience
