Course Description

Designed by experienced and senior clinicians, and in line with the NHS Multi-Professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England, on this programme you’ll develop your ability to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers in a variety of UK healthcare settings.

This Masters programme supports registered professionals (NMC, HCPC) to develop their existing skills, knowledge and values across the four pillars of advanced practice:

  • Clinical practice
  • Leadership and management
  • Education 
  • Research

Entry Requirements

Qualifications or experience

A second-class honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject or a master's degree in an appropriate subject. Applicants should be professionally practising in an environment where there is an identified need for the individual to be an advanced practitioner. Exceptionally, equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will be considered. Applicants are required to have 3 years post-registration work experience in a relevant area. Applicants must also have support of a line manager and clinical supervisor and current registration with a relevant professional body (NMC or HCPC). All applicants will be invited to attend an interview.

This course is for UK based staff only.

English language requirements

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 7.0 with no component score below 7.0.

Year 1

  • Advanced Clinical Reasoning, Decision Making and Diagnostics – 15 credits
  • Principles of Advanced Clinical Practice – 15 credits
  • History Taking and Physical Assessment for Advanced Clinical Practice – 30 credits

Year 2

Core modules in this year include:

  • Evidence Based Practice at Advanced Level – 15 credits

  • Applied Pharmacology and Medicines Management<br /> - 30 credits
  • Prescribing for Nurses: Independent and Supplementary (V300) (L7) - 30 credits
  • Advanced Practice in Urgent and Emergency Care Settings - 15 credits
  • Level 7 Care of Children and Young People in Crisis - 15 credits
  • Dementia in Health and Social Care - 15 credits
  • Identification and Management of Frailty in Adults - 15 credits
  • Supporting Advanced Clinical Practice in Palliative and End of Life Care - 15 credits
