Masters Degree Description

Help build a future that is sustainable and inclusive. This course is designed to be accessible to people from different academic and professional backgrounds. You’ll enjoy broad-based, interdisciplinary social science training necessary for careers focused on sustainability transformations. The course is critical and constructive, drawing on ideas and concepts from:

  • economics
  • development studies
  • political science
  • innovation studies
  • science, technology and society studies.

You’ll learn to translate socio-ecological theories and technological innovation into effective policies and practices for sustainable development. These skills are in demand in:

  • international development agencies
  • NGOs
  • government ministries and firms in the Global South and North.

You’ll benefit from the expertise in SPRU – Science Policy Research Unit, the largest academic body in the world studying science, technology and innovation.

Entry Requirements

You should have a lower second-class (2.2) undergraduate honours degree or above.

Your qualification can be in any subject but undergraduate degrees in the social sciences, natural science, humanities or engineering are particularly suitable. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.
