Course Description

Focused on enhancing the technical and management skills required of professionals in civil engineering and construction-related industries, this course explores the sustainability, management and environmental impact of structural engineering and the applied technical themes within the field.

Applying engineering principles in structural and building construction, you’ll gain an understanding of, and competence in, the design, management and construction of structures. Developing an advanced approach to research methods, you’ll practice your knowledge on the continually changing issues in the management of civil engineering projects and specialist technical aspects of industry.

Our MSc Structural Engineering with Management course is suitable for professionals working in construction-related industries, who aspire to senior management positions. Additionally, it’s suitable for BSc (Hons) and BEng (Hons) undergraduate students in related subject areas, looking to progress to study a technical postgraduate programme.   • 2:2 honours degree in civil engineering or an appropriate built environment subject area.

Applying with non-standard entry qualifications/experience

We will also consider applicants with the following qualifications:

  • Postgraduate diploma, or equivalent academic achievement in civil engineering or appropriate built environment subject area.

Student Destinations

94% of our Civil Engineering postgraduates (PGT) are in a ‘High Skilled’ role 15 months after finishing their degrees (of those available for work or study, latest Graduate Outcomes Survey 2019/20).

Students from this course will graduate with improved professional and technical skills to operate at senior positions in the construction industry. Although this course does not offer a formal placement, all our courses are vocationally focused and benefit from strong links with industry. Graduates have gone on to work for a wide range of national and international organisations in senior positions in both the consulting and contracting fields. Alternatively, some graduates have chosen to continue within the education sector and embarked on PhD studies.
