This programme has been selected to support the skills demand in Scotland’s key economic growth areas. A number of full fee bursaries are available to applicants permanently resident in Scotland.
This masters in Smart Grid is multidisciplinary with a strong emphasis on Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. It’s aimed at students with electrical and mechanical knowledge – and designed to give you an understanding of how the components in an energy or electricity network interact. The course also looks at the design, modelling, evaluation and operating requirements of smart girds.
With the increased contribution of renewable power, there’s a demand for highly-trained specialists with technical skills and knowledge in this area. What’s more, the Scottish Funding Council is currently offering five scholarships covering fees only for this course (to students with Scottish backgrounds).
The entry requirements are a good Honours degree (2.i) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Physics, or a closely related subject. Equivalent overseas qualifications will be considered.
Alternative backgrounds, such as vocational training complemented with sufficient relevant industrial experience and continued professional development will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
