What is Industrial Control Engineering MSc?

In this course you will learn the advanced knowledge of industrial control engineering including the classical control system design to optimal, adaptive and intelligent control systems.

Be creative and innovative in addressing challenges from industrial controls in the era of the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. You’ll study both theoretical and practical knowledge, skills and methods in control engineering, instrumentation and electronics. You’ll also develop ability to synthesise information from a variety of sources and make effective decisions on complex instrumentation and control engineering problems.

Instrumentation and control engineers are highly sought after in a range of industries including oil and gas, petrochemicals, chemical engineering, manufacturing, research, transport and infrastructure.

The programme is great if you’re interested in developing your career in both analytical and practical aspects of control engineering – or continuing your studies to doctoral level research.

Study Style

The course includes lectures, guest speakers, seminars, individual work, self-led work/research and group work. Group work brings together engineers from a variety of backgrounds to shape projects and tasks. As a day release course, you can immediately apply your learning to your industry role.

You’ll learn the advanced knowledge of industrial control engineering including the classical control system design to optimal, adaptive and intelligent control systems, operation, engineering management, pioneering approaches in this field and how to apply them to solve both real-world and pioneer research-oriented problems.

Entry Requirements

BSc or BEng (min Honours 2:2) in general engineering, electrical, electronics, mechanics or computing.
