Course Description

Do you already have a professional health or nursing qualification or are working in health and human services? Our top-up degree will help you to progress to higher levels of study and enhance the quality of your professional practice.

The course offers a wide variety of modules to choose from, meaning you can tailor your studies to suit your speciality. You can choose to study from a wide range of areas to suit your interests, such as:

  • person-centred approaches to care
  • management of the common symptoms in palliative care patients
  • current perspectives in cardiovascular disease
  • developing academic skills for practice

The course has been designed to meet the needs of both UK based and international practitioners. This is a flexible, interactive, distance learning course so you can study whenever and wherever you want, while being part of a global network of students who are learning to improve healthcare outcomes.

Entry Requirements

A DipHE, or 120 credits at SCQF level 7 and 120 credits at SCQF level 8 (or equivalent). This is normally demonstrated by your professional qualification.
You also need to be a nurse, midwife, or other professional in health and social care contexts such as the voluntary sector, managers, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), physiotherapists, and nutritionists.

If you are a UK nurse with a 300 credit DipHE / HND, this already contains 60 credits at SCQF Level 9. You may be able to use these credits as the equivalent of 60 credits towards your Dundee BSc top-up degree. This would mean you would only need to complete one optional module instead of three.
