Postgraduate Studentships - Search for funding opportunities.
This course focuses on the development of skills and knowledge required for forensic psychology practice. We’ve designed this course for students to progress from masters level study towards practitioner status. Successful completion of the programme will enable you to apply for registration as a practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
This course is predominantly work-based but you’ll also have the opportunity to attend university-based/online workshops and be supported by an online learning platform throughout the course. When you’re based at work, you’ll work under the supervision of both a university-based academic and a work-based clinical supervisor.
You’ll develop key skills for working in forensic settings, with a focus on undertaking assessments, formulations, and interventions. You’ll learn how to train other professionals in psychological skills and knowledge, and how to provide effective consultancy in a range of forensic settings. Adhering to ethical and professional practice standards will underpin all of your work during the course.
Through the Professional Development in Forensic Psychology Practice units, you’ll reflect on the development of your forensic psychology skills and practice, completing reflective diaries and learning logs throughout the duration of your studies.
Our course tutors have extensive forensic research, practice and supervision experience, and continue to work in forensic practice alongside their teaching here at Manchester Met.
