Course Description

Our MSc Food Security and Development course addresses the challenges of global food insecurity and poverty.

The programme benefits from strong association with the European Food Systems Education and Teaching (EFSET) programme. EFSET reflects Reading’s reputation as a lead institute in the area of understanding global food security, malnutrition and poverty, particularly in developing countries.

On this master’s programme you will:

  • develop a multidisciplinary understanding of how food systems work in developing countries and the main drivers of global food insecurity, malnutrition and poverty,
  • build knowledge of how food systems interact with institutions and development policies at international, national and local levels,
  • gain the conceptual and practical skills necessary for the analysis and development of planned food security interventions.

Entry Requirements

Normally a good undergraduate honours degree (2:1 or above), or equivalent from a university outside the UK.
