Course Description

MA Environment and Creative Practice engages with the most pressing ecological questions of our time in creative and transformative ways, encompassing the wellbeing of humans, animals and plants. The programme will deliver core skills and fundamental knowledge to advanced learners seeking a professional career in the rapidly evolving environment sector. The cross-disciplinary nature of the course means that we welcome students from any undergraduate degree course.

This MA programme focuses on the design, use and engagement of urban and green spaces (both wild and manmade) and the interaction between public and individual, human and non-human. In understanding the production and use of space as fundamentally social, political and ethical, the course responds to contemporary concerns on matters of care in human and non-human relations.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will normally hold a good BA or BSc honours degree (2.2 or above) and the cross-disciplinary nature of the course means that it welcomes students from any undergraduate degree course. All students will be provided with a pre-enrolment reading list and this might be particularly useful for students who do not have an undergraduate qualification in an environmental science or art & design subject .

We welcome applications from mature students, and for those mature students whose have not secured a good undergraduate qualification, but who have gained extensive industry experience, the compatibility of their qualifications and level of workplace experience will be measured against the admission requirements using WUC’s Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning process. Applications from non-UK students are also very welcome. For students whose first language is not English, an overall test score of 6.5, with a minimum of 5.5 in all elements, is required in the IELTS (International English Language Testing System or recognised equivalent) tests.
