The course aims to promote the evolution of an adaptable, reflexive and responsive practitioner who promotes the highest standards of client health care. The course incorporates the key principles of specialist practice within the domains of clinical practice; care and programme management; clinical practice development and clinical practice leadership. The course comprises of 50% theory and 50% practice.

An effective appropriate 1st level registration on the NMC professional in respect of the route they wish to take, as follows:
The equivalent of at least one year’s post-registration practice experience.
Experience of practicing within a healthcare environment for a minimum of 18 hours per week (or equivalent part-time) clinical activity.
Hold the equivalent of 360 credits of which 120 must be at Level 6 (degree level) in a relevant Nursing Practice or Social Sciences related subject.
