Designed for those with a medical background, this part-time postgraduate diploma delves into the core aspects of dermatology from a primary care perspective.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology is organised by the Centre for Cell Biology and Cutaneous Research in the Blizard Institute, and the Department of Dermatology at Barts Health.
Our programme is taught entirely by Consultant Dermatologists with CCST/Board Certification in Dermatology.
Most doctors receive two weeks dermatology teaching as students and subsequently can struggle when they are faced with diagnosing and managing patients with skin disease in their own practices. This online programme covers the dermatology core curriculum with special emphasis on diagnosing and managing skin disease in a community setting. You will gain knowledge and understanding of the common clinical dermatological problems such as the red face, inflammatory conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, as well as recognising skin cancers and other lumps and bumps. We also teach you about some of the rarer skin diseases and explain the pathology behind a range of the conditions which we encounter in practice.
There are close links with other dermatology departments in the region, in particular Whipps Cross University Hospital. There is a large enthusiastic team of consultant dermatologists, many of whom are tutors on this diploma course.
An MBBS or basic medical degree from universities recognised by the University of London. Prior experience in dermatology is desirable but not essential.
