Masters Degree Description

This programme explores how scientific knowledge can be used to the benefit of society and the economy through biotechnology. It offers an opportunity to enhance your knowledge, research and business development skills using biological principles and systems to create new products, services and industries.

Entry Requirements

These entry requirements are for the 2026-27 academic year and requirements for future academic years may differ. Entry requirements for the 2027-28 academic year will be published on 1 Oct 2026.

A UK 2:1 honours degree, or its international equivalent, with a strong background in biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, chemistry, pharmacy, chemical engineering, plant sciences or related sciences, with evidence of quantitative and computer science skills.

Research Project Proposal (Biotechnology) (10 credits)

Metagenomics (10 credits) - Semester 2
Dissertation
Research Project or Industrial Placement (MSc Biotechnology) (60 credits)
