This course is designed for graduates with a degree in another discipline who are looking for a route into nursing. The programme structure is 50% theory and 50% practice to ensure you are appropriately prepared for the role of a registered adult nurse.
It’s no secret that nursing plays a significant role in the UK healthcare system. Your patients might be young adults, those in their middle and later years or people who may be in their nineties or beyond. As an adult nurse, you will be compassionate, determined and have the communication skills to provide care at all levels.
As a qualified adult nurse, your skills will be in demand from the moment you graduate. You will graduate equipped to work with adults of any age, and ready to find employment. Our courses are specially designed to ensure our local health services are staffed with the highest calibre of nurses. As well as going on to enjoy a challenging but highly rewarding career within acute and community NHS Trusts, you could also work within private, charitable and voluntary sector services, industry, education, management and leadership, research, armed forces, school nursing, prisons and public health.
•Degree Subject: All subject areas considered •Degree Classification: Minimum 2:2 or equivalent; Degrees should normally have been completed within the last 5 years, although other recent, relevant study may be considered. •Alternative Qualifications: The University will also take into account the employment experience of applicants where relevant. •Special Entry Requirements: Applicants should have a clear understanding of the profession ideally with relevant voluntary or paid work in health care and an interest in people. Students for whom English is a Foreign language We welcome applications from students from all academic backgrounds. We require evidence of proficiency in English (including writing, speaking, listening and reading): IELTS (SELT): 7.0 overall (minimum 7.0 in each component) Interviews Applicants who pass the initial screening stage will be considered for interview.
Eligible students residing in the UK will not pay tuition fees; these will be covered by the NHS.
In addition eligible students will normally receive a small non-means tested NHS Grant, currently £1,000 per annum, and may apply for a means tested Bursary. Eligibility for bursaries is at the discretion of the NHS Business Services Authority.
Once you have graduated, you can expect to pursue a career in any number of fields, including health and social care, education, industry and management.
